My other metal droid arrived from Texas yesterday. So I can finish him while I am working here in Burbank. This one will be a R2D2 and possibly an alternative R series droid as well depending on what I want to do with the of the other R&J dome I have. This one I will disassemble all the way down and repaint everything. I got a bunch of the T. Seiko servos for the arms, data probes and claws as well as other accessories I will be installing in this droid so this baby will be a surprise for C5. Everything will work. MGA, Data Probe, Welder and all of the doors and panels Periscope and LFS. It will be a lot to get done.
I also have the periscope mount that swivels with the use of a small servo. I modified the JAG design to allow wires from the periscope to pass through the housing. In addition to that; this design will incorporate a telescoping periscope via a scissor jack extension inside the tube housing so I can get additional height once it clears the dome. In addition, I would recommend you use a digital servo with metal gears for a couple of reasons. You will need to program a greater end points for the servo to travel and the added weight of the periscope will require metal gears if you want the servo to last any respectable length of time.
